Schooling / Re-Schooling

Weekly fee: from $170+, or Monthly flat fee option available

We are able to provide a range of schooling services. From putting mileage onto green-broke babies through to addressing specific training issues with more experienced competition horses. You can find out more about our riders' experience and background on the Team page.
We also have a special interest in remedial work, or "problem horses". Give us a call or an email to discuss your specific requirements.

Competition Experience

Weekly fee: from $170, or Daily fee: from $35

Would you like to step your horse up to the next level of competition, but lack the confidence to do so? Perhaps you have a youngster who needs their first few outings under their belt? An experienced horse who is a bit rusty or naughty at shows? Or maybe you'd just like to see your horse competing at shows without the hassle and anxiety of riding yourself? Maybe you have too many horses to find the time to compete them all on showday?
We can put your horse into our team for a period of time and take care of everything for you. We will do all show preparation including plaiting, sending off entries and ensuring your horse is ready to go out and do their best. Alternately we are available in some cases to ride on showday only (you prepare your horse and bring him/her to the show - we'll do the rest!).

Livery

POA. Monthly flat fee. Typical indicative range from $650-1000

We have limited spaces available for busy horse owners who do not have the time to ride and care for a horse fulltime, but who still wish to enjoy the thrill and excitement of competing. We will care for your horse, including feeding, riding and all other requirements during the week. On weekends you can come and ride your horse up the hills here, or out at shows (we will also be available to help with warmup in most cases, and even transporting your horse to the shows in our trucks). Bring your hat & boots and the rest is done for you.

Casual Riding

$20 per ride

Winter is here - the nights are dark and cold and the rain is making it's presence known. If you don't have the time to ride your horse as often as he/she needs and just need the occasional helping hand we can help in within the Wellington-Kapiti area. Happy to school, or just do hacking or fitness work on your horse at your place. Ride price includes my travel to your place too. Minimum numbers may be required in some areas.

Starting / Backing

POA. Flat fee. Typical indicative range from $500-1000.

As a mostly Mother & Daughter team we have about 50 years combined experience of starting horses, mainly thoroughbreds - but we also work with other breeds. We treat every horse as an individual case, and design a programme of work to suit their needs. We understand that not every horse takes the same amount of time, nor the same methods to get great results. Our youngsters, once started, are calm and happy in their work. We also ensure that youngsters that come to us for starting get expsure to the real world - coming along to shows and other outings. Depending on age, your newly started youngster will walk, trot and canter kindly, pop over small jumps, hack out independantly and stand happily at a truck or float in a show situation.
Currently we only accept horses who have basic handling (will halter, and lead, pick up feet etc), however if you need assistance in these areas give us a call or an email and we can recommend suitable profesionals to you.
